The second half of the year 2025 at VIECON

Online since: 16. September 2025

Between September and December, nearly 20 national and international congresses, trade fairs, and business events will take place in the city's most flexible event center, including the EASD (European Association for the Study of Diabetes), Bio Europe, and Buch Wien. The focus is on promoting education and research, social knowledge exchange, and positioning Vienna as an international meeting destination.

"As part of the Wien Holding Group, VIECON plays a key role in Vienna's international positioning as a leading congress and business location. Thanks to this structure, the city of Vienna can specifically exploit its potential in the global market for congresses, trade fairs, and corporate events, develop it strategically, and secure it for the long term. This not only raises Vienna's profile as an attractive destination, but also strengthens its position as a reliable partner for international business and congress activities," says City Councilor for Finance, Barbara Novak.

“With the program for the second half of the year, we are sending a strong signal about Vienna's attractiveness as a congress, innovation, and tourism location. The range of events and their international appeal underscore how important VIECON is for the economic development of our city,” explains Oliver Stribl, Managing Director of Wien Holding.

Thematic diversity and green events

From art and science conferences to career and education events, the second half of the year offers an impressive range of topics. VIECON expects thousands of trade visitors from all over the world. Particularly noteworthy are BIO Europe, one of the largest partnering conferences for biotechnology, and ECR Day, a high-profile industry event in the consumer goods sector. Both events take place in November and make use of the Green Meeting certification offered by VIECON Center.

“We see ourselves not only as a venue, but as an active part of an urban network that combines innovation, knowledge, and sustainability. With international formats and Green Meeting certifications, we are already well positioned and are working consistently to further expand our sustainability measures,” says Katharina Weishaupt, Managing Director of VIECON.

Diverse event portfolio until the end of the year

The rest of the year will also feature a diverse program of events, ranging from medical conferences to VIECC Vienna Comic Con. The EASD Congress, which is currently taking place, is bringing diabetes research experts to Vienna, followed by the EUSEM Emergency Medicine Conference, which will focus on the latest developments in emergency medicine. October is all about technology, careers, and finance with the Meteorological Technology World Expo, Career Calling as a career event for students and graduates in Austria, and the GEWINN trade fair. To round off the fall, the Korean Brand Expo presents the latest products from the hyped K-Brand market (Korean products).

In November, the literary scene will gather at Buch Wien, while the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists will focus on acute and chronic respiratory and lung diseases at the APOkongress. At the Interpädagogica education fair, educators will focus on teaching and learning, and VIECC Vienna Comic Con, a pop culture and gaming event, will once again be the highlight of the calendar for many cosplayers and gamers. Both events are organized under license by Austrian Exhibition Experts, whose expertise and licensing partnerships ensure that top international acts such as Elijah Wood from Lord of the Rings and Jamie Campbell Bower from Stranger Things come to Vienna.

Festivities and heart specialists during Advent

The pre-Christmas season will be heralded on November 20 by the Alm Advent Event Village in front of the VIECON Center on Forecourt A. In the middle of the month, the EACVI Congress will once again bring international cardiology expertise to Vienna and at the same time mark the end of the 2025 event calendar at VIECON.

A meeting place and platform for future topics

In addition to specialist and industry events, VIECON will remain a lively venue for encounters and dialogue in 2025. All events not only reflect the relevance of global issues, from health and education to digitalization, but also strengthen Vienna's visibility as a modern and cosmopolitan city. In addition, VIECON remains an important factor in Vienna's value creation and, with its international events, will generate 350,000 overnight stays this year, which will flow directly into Vienna's tourism industry.

“The combination of internationality, thematic breadth, and social relevance makes VIECON a unique platform for exchange and shaping the future. We are proud to work with strong partners to realize events that have an impact in Vienna and beyond,” concludes Martina Candillo, Managing Director of VIECON.
