We recommend that all visitors check the latest information from Wiener Linien before their arrival to choose the fastest and most convenient route. Drivers should also be aware of potential restrictions and plan sufficient time for their journey.

Contruction works Handelskai

Construction works at Handelskai (Line 18)

Since January 2026, construction work has been taking place at Handelskai between Dr.-Natterer-Gasse and Meiereistraße as part of the extension of tram line 18. Two lanes will be temporarily closed, but traffic will continue to run in both directions. Please allow sufficient time for your arrival and be mindful of detours as well as possible night or weekend work. Drivers are also advised to check the current traffic arrangements in advance.

Main Route and Alternative Options

S‑Bahn Core Line Closure 2026–2027

The Vienna S‑Bahn core line is undergoing extensive modernization, resulting in sectional closures and replacement services:

  • Summer closure: 4 July – 6 September 2026 (Floridsdorf – Praterstern)
  • Main closure: 7 September 2026 – end of October 2027 (Praterstern – Hauptbahnhof)

Please check alternative routes in advance and allow sufficient time for your journey.

Arrival by Public Transport

The U2 underground line takes you directly to us – convenient and sustainable:

  • Messe-Prater station (for Foyer A)
  • Krieau station (for Foyer D)

Both stations are located just a few minutes’ walk from the main entrances.

Arrival From the Airport

From Vienna International Airport (Vienna-Schwechat), you can reach VIECON as follows:

By taxi in around 20 minutes

  • By airport bus in approx. 30 minutes directly to Foyer D / Krieau
  • By City Airport Train (CAT) to Wien Mitte, then continue with the U2 line
  • By suburban train (S-Bahn) to Wien Praterstern, followed by a short ride on the U2
